As a boy I was aware of my strong gravitation toward horses.  If ever my thoughts needed calming, I would seek places where horses could be seen and watch them for hours at a time.  I loved to see the horses, and admired there incredible size and beauty.  Many times my connection to the horses felt so strong that I imagined what these horses might be thinking as they went about grazing in the beautiful pastures of Davis County, Utah. Something about the way horses viewed their world and reacted to their own unique situations always inspired me.  There is no doubt that my ability to imagine what these horses might be thinking had a profound impact on me, and it wouldn't be until later in my life that I would fully acquire the skills of horse training to give back to the animals that had given so much to me.  Each and every one of my horse experiences helped me grow to be who I am today.  To this day I remain humble and deeply grateful for these gifts that were offered to me.

After many years of watching grazing horses from a far,  I had the opportunity to watch skilled horseman build deep relationships with their horses. I remember taking notice of how they cultivated trust with these large and frightful animals, allowing the horse to slow their natural instincts and become mindful of their actions.  Over time I began to see the horses fear diminish and a partnership take form that allowed the horse and it’s rider to accomplish anything they set their minds too.

My first real interactions with horses came when I began cleaning stalls for free just to be around them. As my connections with horses grew stronger, It wasn't long before I came to own my first horse.  I had developed a great deal of understanding from afar, but the “hands on” of horse training was still new, and I realized had much to learn.  It that point I didn't understand even the most basic principles of horse training.  Eventually I came to realize that consistency, time, and patience were all required of me to earn a horse’s trust, and that these qualities were difficult to master. Through trial and error I learned along side my horse. I still remember the day when I was able to ride my horse for the first time. From there we went many places, met many great people, and learned many more things on our journey together.

Despite all that I had learned from the experiences with my horses, my passion for horses pushed me to further refine my horse training skills.  I have spent the last 4 years working as a professional cutting horse trainer, training some of top performance horses I could find.  I will always love the challenge of starting colts and building them up to be the highest quality athletes they can be.  Training and showing top performance horses has redefined my opinion of what it means to offer top quality horse training, and has once again inspired how I view these amazingly powerful creatures.

Today my goals of horse training continue to evolve. I want to take the things I have learned and teach them to others. I want to do this because I know how hard it can be work with horses on your own.  I want to help others discover the wisdom that exists in themselves and their horses, while helping them avoid all those years of trial and error.

I started Equality Equine to provide a safe and efficient training environment where both horse and rider can learn from each other, and there is nothing I find more rewarding than coaching others though the challenges of horsemanship.  Proper horsemanship requires that you persevere through your own unique challenges, but having the knowledge of top quality horse training at your side will ensure that each experience empowers you and your horse to be the best that you can be.

My destiny with horses is realized when I cultivate in others the powerful transformations that horses have offered to me.  Through my 10 years of horsemanship, each horse has brought me greater awareness, more than I could have ever hoped for. The greatest thing about training horses is this: I don’t always know what I will learn from the next horse I see, but I know  always to be grateful for the time I share with these impressive animals.
